Our standards

Our aim is to take each pupil to the limits of their abilities and to support children with difficulties. We aim to provide every opportunity that may be offered by a large school and combine to this with the detailed knowledge and interest in reach individual that can only be fully achieved within a small school.

We set and expect high standards in behaviour, respect, politeness and consideration. This expectation we stress, applies equally to relationships between pupils as it does to the relationships between children and adults.

We stress pride in achievement and reward effort. Children are encouraged to recognise and praise other children's efforts at whatever level.

We aim for all children to feel themselves to be valued. We encourage children to be curious, to think and apply knowledge. We encourage children to be confident and competent in communication with others.

National Curriculum test results provide one measure of success but need to be read with some care when considering a small school. Small numbers of entrants will inevitably yield fluctuating statistics (one child may be 10% of our total!)

At the time of writing, our last SATs results were excellent, amongst the very best in the county.

The ultimate question a parent should ask of a school is "Will this school enable my children to reach their full potential?"

We feel that any child capable of achieving Level 4, or beyond, will have every chance to do so at Cassop School.

Equally important we feel confident that children with learning difficulties will also reach their potential and this must be considered to be success too.
